Planning Pregnancy
Randy and I had been talking about trying to have a baby for about 9 months. We knew it had to be after I graduated nursing school, January 2012. So I went off of my birth control pills a few months prior to the "trying to conceive" timeline. The earliest we could get pregnant would be April, to be due in January. In addition, I was facing possible knee surgery. We had approached the idea that if I got pregnant the surgery was obviously off, but if it didn't happen we would carry on with the surgery. April came and went, and no baby. So I signed myself up for surgery in May. I didn't bother going back on my pills because a couple months post surgery we would start "trying" again. Plus, it didn't happen in April so what makes me think it would happen in May. On May 17th I went under the knife. The very first thing they did in pre-op was a pregnancy test. I even joked that I "passed that test".... which I did. Surgery went well and I started on the bumpy road to recovery. Later that month good 'ole Aunt Flo was a no show and since the surgery there had been no "action" in town. Hmm... I thought to myself, "well I did just have surgery for the first time, and I have been on all kinds of meds. She will show up in a week or so." Nothing. So after a week and a half late I took a pregnancy test, without telling Randy. These 2 funny lines showed up on the test. Hmm.... "that can't be right. No, no, no, this is some effect from surgery." And I pitched the test. About a week later I started vomiting in the morning.... crap. I told Randy I thought I was pregnant and he said "no you're not". I told him to go out and get me a pregnancy test, he returned with 3. I took one and handed him the results..... boy did I show him. Positive.
