Heartbeat
Around 12 weeks we had an appointment to try and listen for the baby's heartbeat. The entire time up to this point we chose not to tell anyone of our baby making business. I went to the appointment having no clue what it would entail, other than a hopeful heartbeat. For some reason in my mind, I assumed there would be an ultrasound. So we arrived at the office and the medical assistant put me in a regular room and told me the doctor will be with you. No "please change into the gown open to the front, sit on the table" etc. I started to wonder how in the world she was going to hear a heartbeat.... press her ear to my vagina? Thankfully no. She used a doppler to find a heartbeat. The time it took for her to find a heartbeat felt like at least 5 minutes. But finally there it was..... heartbeat of 155. It didn't seem real. Also at every appointment they kept testing my urine, to check to see if I'm pregnant? Ding, ding, I already passed that one with positive. I finally found out from the receptionist that they were testing for protein. Afterwards they had me see the vampires, who took about 6 vials of blood for "testing". The appointment felt rather anticlimactic. No one told me what to expect or what they were testing for... it made me miss my previous ob/gyn in Springfield. In fact, I had to ask what my due date was because no one officially told me. The baby just doesn't seem real at this point. There was no ultrasound, I didn't get to see if the baby had four heads or if it looked at home in my uterus. All I had to go by was the heartbeat. But with a heartbeat of 155 and a due date of February 3, 2012 we were happy with Baby T.

I told Randy that I am able to do an US at anytime. Just let me know. I looked at Matt almost daily.
